Former Directors

The first director of the Vocational Education and Training Authority  was Harris Morgan Manyanga, who served  VETA from 1994 to 1997 and Served NVTD from 1970 to 1993. Mr. Manyanga is the pioneer of Vocational Training in Tanzania.

From 1998 to 2003 the director was the former Regional Director of Northern zone, Adelhem Meru. He in turn was succeeded by the Managing Director of Coffee Curing Zebadiah S. Moshi from 2005 to date.

 

Mr. Morgan Harris Manyanga

1970 - 1994 - Director of National Vocational and Training Division.          The late Morgan Harris  Manyanga joined the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare in 1970 and was highly involved in the process of formulating 1974 Act, which established National Vocational Training Division.     

1994 - 1997 - Director General of VETA

Dr. Adelhem M. Meru

1998  -  2003 - Director General of Vocational Education and Training Authority. Dr. Adelhem Meru joined Vocational Training in mid 90's as a Regional Director of the Northern Zone. He served the post for 3 years  and in 1998 was appointed as a Director General. He played a significant role in implementing a new training system and review of the Morogoro Vocational Teachers Training status and also developments of Vocational Training Centres.
