National Trade Test Application Registration An application to sit for the National Trade Test shall be made by filling the examination application. An application shall be accepted without a written approval of the Director General if the applicant fulfils the criteria as follows:- (i) A person who wishes to register for National Trade Test Grade III must have the following qualifications: · Be a holder of a Basic Training Proficiency Certificate, endorsed by a recognized Institution and should also have completed one year fulltime apprenticeship or the required number of modules, Or

Completion of at least two years of fulltime institutional training in
the relevant trade at a recognized institution Or · Having at least 2 years of work experience and having completed the required number of modules, equivalent to one year full-time institutional training at a basic level [Distance Education Participants]. (ii) A Person who wishes to register for National Trade Test Grade II must have the following qualifications: · Be holder of National Trade Test Grade III and having completed the required number of modules equivalent to one year of institutional training in a relevant trade.

Be holder of National Trade Test Grade III certificate and having a
minimum of three years work experience and be a parson who has completed
the required number of modules equivalent to two years institutional
training (iii) A person who wishes to register for National Trade Test Grade I must have the following qualifications. · Be holder of National Trade Test Grade II and possesses a minimum of five years work experience and has completed the required number or module, Or · Be holder of National Trade Test Grade II and has completed the number of required modules of work experience and institutional training. An applicant wishing to apply for a Trade Test shall submit the form with written evidence from his/her employer or employers showing the period during which he/she was employed in the trade as evidence of any periods of approved institutional/industrial training or skill upgrading training. An applicant shall provide, along with the filled application form, two recent passport size photographs of himself/herself for attachment to the certificate and records. TRADE SKILL TESTS (i) A National trade test shall consist of a theoretical and practical test. (ii) Examination format shall be determined by the appropriate Trade Advisory Committee. (iii) The theoretical test shall be a written test conducted in Swahili or English Language. (iv) In the practical test an applicant shall be required to complete a test piece or job or series of test pieces or jobs in a given time. (v) In all grades the total minimum pass mark for theoretical and practical tests shall be 50% of maximum score in each test. (vi) An applicant shall be required to pass both the theoretical and practical tests. An applicant, who passes the theoretical test, but fails the practical test, may be permitted to re-sit the practical test without repeating the theoretical test provided that the re-testing is conducted within two years after passing the theoretical test. (vii) Should an applicant undergoing training under the established apprenticeship scheme fail the National Trade Test, theoretical or practical part of the National Trade test, he/she can re-sit the test within six months after the trade test (viii) An applicant who has the required skills and necessary work experience in more than one practice trade, may apply for the National Trade Test in more than one trade provided that he/she has required work experience in those particular trades without any combination or reduction of time. Fees Examination fees are as follows:
Examination application form for each level is obtained for Tshs. 1,000/=. Fees must be paid to the VETA Regional Director, Centre Manager or Principal of VTC’s. All fees, once paid shall not be refundable or transferable. The fees are liable to change without prior notification. |
