Zonal Board

AIM

Zonal VET Boards were established to ensure that VETA services are spread all over the country. Composition Zonal VET Boards have their membership composition including representatives from key stakeholders in VET namely, A Chairman to be appointed by the Board; 3 members nominated by the organizations for the time being representing employers; 2 members to be nominated by trade union movements representing employees; 1 member to be nominated by the Regional Administration; 1 member to be nominated by non-governmental organization representing a training institution.

The Regional Director shall be Secretary to the Regional board.The composition is meant to ensure that strategic interests of key stakeholders and partners in the VET system are taken on board through the Board being collectively a source of serious agenda for skills development.

Functions of the Zonal Board

There are nine functions of the Zone Boards which aim to achieve a cutting edge of VET provision in the zones. Boards shall:-

a) Coordinate VET activities within the Region.

b) Provide direct supervision and serve as the governing board for all vocational training centres within the region.

c) Provide guidelines and supervision on budget preparations by vocational education and training institutions within the region

d) Evaluate budget proposals for vocational training centres managed by the authority within the region and forward the budgets to the Board.

e) Determine regional priorities for vocational education and training. f) Authorize vocational training centres managed by the authority within the region to utilize any funds raised from fees or other activities of the centres.

g) Carry out inspection of vocational training centres according to regulations and guidelines laid down by the Board

h) Prepare an annual reports to the National Board on training and related activities in the region

i) Advise the National Board on any matter related to the improvement of vocational education and training in the region.

 


VETA provides Training and Services to the community and the general public.
